During the initial recruitment for our chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta, we discovered that calculating the science GPA manually was a tedious process. John Cannon, our Technology Officer created this simple program to make the process much easier.
To use the calculator, first download it to your Desktop using the right-click and "Save Target As..."/"Save Link As..." or similar feature of your browser and choose an appropriate location for it where you will be able to find the zip file. If you get a message warning you about downloading an executable just tell it that you are sure you want to do it. If you are uncomfortable with this procedure on your own computer please use one in one of the computer labs on campus or else calculate the GPA manually.
After you have downloaded the application to your Desktop, unzip it by double clicking on it and extracting the GPACalc.exe file. Once you have extracted the executable file then you can run it by double clicking on it. The program will appear as shown above. Select a course from the list of courses on the right hand side and then enter the letter grade in the box below it. Then click the "Add This Course" button to add the course. All courses you have chosen will appear in summary form in the list at the left so you can verify the list. Repeat this for all courses you have taken and then click the "Calculate Science GPA" button at the bottom right. Your calculated GPA will appear in the box labeled "Your Science GPA". If you need to remove a course or reset the program, use the appropriately labeled buttons.
If you think the program has miscaclulated you GPA or there is a course missing from the list of courses, please let us know by contacting our Technology Officer at lauraeh18@yahoo.com. Be sure to include the course name that is missing or a list of all the courses you entered along with the grades so that he will know how to find the problem.
